Dr Dovini Sooriyabandara

Dr Dovini Sooriyabandara is an Australian trained doctor, graduating from Adelaide University in 2003. She then moved to Sydney to work at Westmead Hospital, Westmead Children's Hospital, Blacktown Hospital and Concord Hospitals before transitioning to General Practice.

Dr Dovini has woked as a GP in the Hills District since 2007. She has a deep understanding of the health needs of her patients as well as services available in the local community.

Dr Dovini is passionately involved in the training and education of the future generation of doctors. She has worked as a Medical Educator for GP trainees, and currently supervises GP registrars on both AGPT and FSP pathways. She enjoys teaching medical students. Dr Dovini is also Examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Special interests:

• Paediatrics such as childhood development checks, immunisations, general health care

• Adolescent Medicine - providing a safe space for adolescents to access health care

• Women's health such as contraception, pre-pregnancy counselling, early pregnancy related care, perimenopause and menopause

• Chronic disease management such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, thyroid disease

• Mental health such as depression, anxiety, eating disorder management

Her passion is incorporating sustained lifestyle changes to clinical medicine to achieve the best possible health outcomes for her patients.

In her spare time she enjoys reading and dancing.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Adelaide University)

Diploma of Child Health (University of Sydney)

ASLM Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine

 Fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners

Fellow of Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine
